The gathering returns with the Sisters of Beautiful Love, many families and many friends at the Teatro Savio for the Mater Amabilis Conference: and we have reached the 12th edition! Many are getting ready to arrive, and not only from Palermo, but from other cities of Sicily, from other Italian regions, and this time again from Germany.

A day of celebration, games and life that will open with the Eucharistic celebration, presided over by Don Vito Impellizzeri, Dean of the Theological Faculty of Sicily. The lunch, so appreciated especially by the children, will be enriched by games and inflatables for the little ones. The afternoon will begin early with a very full program, in which the youngest will be the protagonists with their performances.

The long-awaited moment of the awards will, this year too, draw us into a story, an experience that will help us to celebrate life and to enjoy the gift of the family. This year’s awardees will be the Morgante couple, accomplished professionals who have poured their energies into the values of the family, of fatherhood and motherhood lived toward their six children, welcoming with joy the news that their offspring would double… when from three they suddenly went to six children, through an unexpected triplet pregnancy. Vincenzo Morgante – journalist, today director of TV2000 and Radio inBlu, with an excellent career in RAI and formerly Director of TGR – and Ilde Barbera – architect and teacher who held various roles at the Ministry of Culture and then of Education – did not give up their project of life and love, embracing their mission as parents and seeking to pass on the values they had received: the beauty of an ordinary experience lived between one flight and the next, in the flow of days full of commitments and encounters, of opportunities and challenges. To them goes the “Mamma Lilla and Papà Pasqualino” award, “to the glory of motherhood and fatherhood.”

A very special moment will be dedicated to the memory of Card. Salvatore Pappalardo, in the year of the twentieth anniversary of his death, which falls next December. His was an experience of fruitful spiritual fatherhood, which bore fruit especially for the Church of Palermo and of which the young Congregation of the Sisters of Beautiful Love too was able to have direct experience.

To conclude the afternoon, the message of Sr. Nunziella, almost a mandate for all those present, who will thus be able to carry to many places a seed of hope, because it is good to remember, even in rugged times like ours: Love alone remains!

Sr. Daniela Peluso
