Prayer for the General Chapter
Holy Spirit, ineffable Paraclete,
most blessed light, fire and breeze,
enlighten and warm us
so that, united in Christ, with Mary,
we may live this General Chapter
as an event of grace.
Make us ever more one among ourselves,
help the whole family of Beautiful Love to grow;
make us instruments of Beautiful Love
with all those whom you will call,
together with us, in this adventure,
for the good of the Church and of humanity,
to the glory of the Father. Amen.
The General Chapter is the supreme governing body of every religious Institute; it is a sign of its unity, and it protects and safeguards the nature, purpose and spirit of the Institute itself, seeking the way to carry them out in the today of the Church and of humanity.
Its role is to elect the Superior General and the members of her Council, as well as to address matters of particular importance for the life of the Institute and its radiance.
All the Sisters prepare for the Chapter with prayer and the offering of their lives, and may freely submit their own proposals, which are gathered by a pre-Chapter Commission set up for this purpose.
ELECTION OF THE SUPERIOR GENERAL
25 July 2022
In the chapter hall of the Motherhouse of the Sisters of Beautiful Love, the elections of the Superior General took place, presided over by the Archbishop of Palermo, Msgr. Corrado Lorefice.
The capitulars gathered in prayer and celebrated the Eucharist presided over by the Archbishop in the Institute's Chapel. Then, all together, they went to the chapter hall, where Msgr. Lorefice led the recitation of theAdsumus and with his fatherly exhortation opened the elective assembly.
Sr. Nunziella Scopelliti, Foundress of the Sisters of Beautiful Love, nominated unanimously by the capitulars, was confirmed as leader of the Institute by the Archbishop, who accepted the unanimous will expressed by the “highly qualified” majority – as he put it – of the votes cast. In an atmosphere of joy, each capitular then embraced Sr. Nunziella as a sign of filial obedience.
In conclusion, the Archbishop imparted his blessing, also invoking the intercession of Saint Rosalia, Patroness of Palermo.
ELECTION OF THE VICAR AND OF THE GENERAL COUNCIL
27 July 2022At 12 noon this morning at the Motherhouse, the ringing of the Angelus bell also marked the election of the new General Council.
Elected unanimously: the Vicar General, Sr. Ivana Sanfilippo, followed by the other councillors: Sr. Antonella Sanfilippo, Sr. Barbara Trevia, Sr. Lucia Gazzola.
