A young woman says her yes to Jesus among the Sisters of Beautiful Love.

There is a great air of celebration at the Motherhouse on Tuesday, November 4: Desiree Sottile, having finished the Novitiate, today makes her vows of obedience, poverty and chastity for the first time into the hands of the Mother, thus becoming Sister Desiree.

The Eucharistic celebration, presided over by the Archbishop of Palermo, Most Rev. Corrado Lorefice, is held in the large chapel of the Motherhouse which, for the occasion, proves insufficient to welcome all the people who have come to share with us the joy of this feast. From Messina, Desiree’s native city, a whole bus arrives, full of relatives and friends, and many others join us from Palermo and its surroundings. The large atrium in front of the chapel thus becomes its extension, allowing everyone to take part fully in the celebration.

The Archbishop, Don Corrado, presides at the Eucharistic liturgy and in his homily dwells on the “beauty” of religious life, all the more so when lived in an Institute that centers its life on the “beauty” of Love. The liturgy, simple and solemn, is also enriched by the presence of several concelebrants and a young deacon.

The liturgical animation is led by a group of young people guided by Sr. Silvia, with whom they met several times in the preceding days for song rehearsals, achieving together results of remarkable quality.

One of the most touching moments of the celebration is the one in which Desiree receives the veil from the Archbishop, a sign of consecration to God, a veil that Sr. Nunziella then carefully arranges on her head.

At the end of the Mass, the Mother thanks those present, beginning with the Archbishop, and emphasizes the gift that the parents too make to God of their daughter, according to the well-known words of St. Ambrose.

Afterwards, all those present are invited to the reception, which turns out to be pleasantly… warm, during which a visual “letter” is also screened, in which Sr. Desiree’s parents and sister confide to her the feelings they have experienced, retracing the inner journey that led them to the joyful and full acceptance of her choice of life.
