The pastor, Msgr. Renzo Giuliano, played the host and joyfully opened the doors of one of the oldest Roman basilicas.
A time to give thanks, as the Cardinal reminded us, and a time to ask forgiveness for the many times we have not responded to God in proportion to the gift received; a time, therefore, to begin again with renewed enthusiasm, to become instruments for the Church and for today's world of Beautiful Love, who is God himself, God a Communion of Persons, who calls humanity to himself. The Cardinal also took his cue from the Gospel of the Twenty-Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time to underline the centrality of “relationships” in the life of a Christian.
It was beautiful to meet on this occasion, coming from different places, even though it was not possible for everyone who would have wished to be present; we gathered from various Sicilian provinces, from Campania, Molise, Abruzzo, Veneto, Piedmont, Lombardy, Liguria, Bavaria…
Those who were then able to stay on Sunday as well took part in the Angelus prayer in Saint Peter's Square, where Pope Francis, on the occasion, greeted the Sisters of Beautiful Love on the 25th anniversary of their foundation.
