On 18 December last, in the Aula Magna of the University of Messina, Sr. Nunziella received the Orione Prize 2016, established by the Messinaweb.eu Association in collaboration, from this year, with the Accademia dei Pericolanti. The event, held under the patronage of the Sicilian Regional Assembly, aims to honor the commitment and social impact of people from Messina who have distinguished themselves both within the city and beyond.
The Orione Prize, now in its sixth edition, was this year directed to several figures from the worlds of the judiciary, medicine, education, journalism, art, social volunteering and culture.
The presence of a woman religious among the recipients was unusual and noteworthy. The reasons that moved the jury, composed mostly of professors of the University of Messina, were recorded on the parchment presented to Sr. Nunziella as follows:
for having borne witness, through the commitment of her life, to the beauty of Christian Love, promoting its vocation through the foundation of the religious Institute of the Sisters of Beautiful Love and of the Association Cenacles of Beautiful Love, and spreading its light in the world of culture and art through her writings and her painting.
A sign of affection and gratitude from her beloved Messina, which Sr. Nunziella returned with a message of hope to the people of Messina, a message that becomes a wish and an invitation to work for the common good, starting anew from beauty.
