At last, the moment has come for Sr. Christine as well to pronounce her “Yes, forever.” On the very day when the Church celebrates Mary’s Yes, during the solemn concelebrated Eucharist presided over by the Archbishop of Palermo, Msgr. Corrado Lorefice, the rite of Perpetual Profession took place for the first Sister of Beautiful Love to come from the African continent. A significant event which, as the Archbishop emphasized, reminds us that the Church gathers her children, in unity, from all the peoples of the earth.

All called, all loved by God, who knows each one by name and makes us, in Christ, children in the one Son. “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is, when brothers dwell together as one!” (Ps 133:1) - brothers and sisters who came for this day from various regions of Italy and from Bavaria, as well as from Palermo and from many places in Sicily, some of them originally from even more distant countries such as the Philippines, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ivory Coast, Madagascar and Uganda.

A liturgy particularly rich in signs: the moment of the prostration was intense, as was the giving of the ring, an expression of nuptiality; significant was the gift of herself that Sr. Christine made in the offertory procession: “Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me. Then I said, ‘Behold, I come’.” Accompanying her in this offering were two parents - not Sr. Christine’s father and mother, who are geographically far away, but parents all the same, because “everyone who has given up houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands for the sake of my name will receive a hundred times more and will inherit eternal life” (Mt 19:29).

At the end of the celebration Sr. Nunziella wished to thank each person for the love and dedication with which they helped make this important moment beautiful, a moment that was a celebration not only for Sr. Christine, not only for the Sisters of Beautiful Love, not only for the family of Beautiful Love, not only for the Church of Palermo, but for the Church, the beloved Bride of Christ.

There was also a time of sharing, in which all the participants could continue to experience the atmosphere of joy in the Aula Magna next to the church.

And the celebration goes on… in Africa, where Sr. Christine will soon go to give thanks to God together with her family and with all those who know her and have accompanied her with their prayer and their love throughout these years. Let us assure her, then, of our prayer and our unity for this next stage in Kinshasa!
