If we love Jesus, the Father also loves us (cf. Jn 14:23). To accept Christ means, in fact, to be welcomed by the Father as his sons and daughters. What a consolation for our hearts! The Gospel explains clearly that the Son gives the power to become children of God to those who receive him with love (cf. Jn 1:12). Here, then, is the dream of dreams fulfilled: to be united to Jesus as branches to the vine (cf. Jn 15:5), so closely that we are in him and he is in us; the consequences are extraordinary: united with one another in Christ, we are with him forever where he is, that is, in the Father... in the Father! (cf. Jn 14:20). We are in the bosom of the Father (cf. Jn 1:18), who has always thought of us, desired us, loved us, to the point of giving us, like a tender mother, the Son Jesus as Savior and Redeemer (cf. Jn 3:16).

When will we understand the infinite, warm, sweet, provident, fatherly and motherly love of the Eternal Father for us! Even now he surrounds us and leads us, he begets us in his beloved Son: in him we are children. What a wonderful adventure! If only we understood a little what a divine destiny has fallen to us!

Here we do not yet see who we are (cf. 1 Jn 3:2), because on this earth things are seen as in a mirror (cf. 1 Cor 13:12), but one day we will see the Father clearly, and then it will be a feast without end. Meanwhile, as long as we are in this world, let us grow accustomed to turning often to this most loving Father, whom the Holy Spirit invites us to call “Abba” (cf. Rom 8:15), let us learn to do everything for him, for his glory.

Let us not waver in fear when things seem to go badly, because, even if a mother should forget her child (cf. Is 49:15), our heavenly Father, who makes rain fall on the just and the unjust (cf. Mt 5:45), will never forget us; nothing escapes his loving care, even the hairs of our head are counted (cf. Mt 10:30).

“Our Father who art in heaven” (Mt 6:9), to you be all our love, we are your sons and daughters in your Son; grant that we may live, even now, in Christ, as his brothers and sisters, sharing in his very glory (cf. Rom 8:17).

Virgin Mother, our Mother, with you, almost lived by you, we want Jesus to grow in us; the Father will then have the joy of seeing in us his Son, his Only-begotten, and we shall all at last be one in the kingdom of Love.
